Prabodhan - The HR & Leadership Conclave Concludes at IIM Indore

The two day HR & Leadership Conclave Prabodhan -organized by One Year Full Time Residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) concluded at IIM Indore on November 10, 2019. The event witnessed three panel discussions, a keynote address, tree plantation drive, case study competition and multiple guest lectures during these days. The first day of the event witnessed a special talk by Mr. VL Kantha Rao, Chief Electoral Officer—MP Government Election Commission of India. ​Mentioning that elections have all kinds of management, be it financial, risk management, etc., Mr. Rao said that elections prove to be a gigantic exercise. He also shared about how the Lok Sabha elections were managed and gave an overview of the ECI hierarchy, emphasizing on the principles. Talking about the critical tasks for ECI, he explained the process of creating a voter list, registering NRIs and enrolling women as well.

 

The first day concluded with the felicitation ceremony for the award winners of the case study competition. The winners are as follows:

 

  1. Team IRMA: Ujwal Nasarpur, Sharadchandra Vilasrao Solunke, Vipul Singh from IRMA, Anand (Rs. 40,000/-)
  2. Team Channel8: Shivani Patel, Sarthak Sharma & Vikrant Sharma from National Institute of Bank Management, Pune (Rs. 25,000/-)

 

The second day of the event began with a Tree Plantation Drive by the delegates and the guests. The day witnessed three amazing EPGP iKON Guest Lectures. The day began with the address by Col. Gururaj Gopinath Pamidi (Retd.), CAO, IIM Indore. He applauded the EPGP batch for organizing the event in a smooth manner and appreciated the theme of the conclave. He also shared his perspectives on how Indian Army’s recruiting is evolving in the internet age, and how innovating marketing has helped Indian Army recruit and retain the best.

 

This was followed by the first lecture of the day by Mr. Sameer Mathur, HR Director, RBS Services India Pvt. Limited. He spoke on Retaining Millennial Talent. Noting about the change in organizational culture when the employees come from multi-generations, Mr. Mathur said that its imperative for the organizations to deeply study the millennial, as they come from the generation of latest technologies. He emphasized on the characteristics of the millennial like ownership to access, highly integrated with mobile technology, being health conscious, etc. and shared why it is important for companies to tailor their products in accordance with the same. He concluded by talking about focusing on purpose in life, culture, staying transparent and being innovative. ‘Define your own list which defines your success, happiness and manages your time’, he concluded while encouraging the participants.

 

Next talk was by Mr. ​Vasant Sanzgiri, Group Head HR, Shapoorji Pallonji Group. He said that t​​he gig economy depends on several factors like condition of the economy and the availability of technology. ‘The gig economy means having paid work and being employed. It’s viewed as a symbiotic win-win contractual relationship between 2 parties – giver of service and receiver of service’, he said. Speaking of loyalty, Mr. Sanzgiri said, ‘Loyalty is a 2 way street. Company has to be loyal and worker also has to be loyal. We are in a generation of instant gratification. The gig work is a means to support aspirations as well as life-style.’ 

 

The last talk of the day was by Mr. Pritam Dutta, Global Head, Digital Transformation & Innovation AB-InBev. Discussing about driving digital transformation, Mr. Dutta talked about the change in mindset and how companies are changing the way they interact with the customers. He also discussed about the 3 core principles to drive digital transformation - Extrapolate, Elevate and Explore. He shared examples of digitization where radical changes were made in the hiring process. In addition to the examples, he emphasized on how digitization is helping redeploy workforce on meaningful work. In the concluding remarks, he laid stress on the role of technology in empowering employees through personalized learning and team building.

 

The two-day event concluded on a high note with a lunch, which provided a platform to the delegates and the participants to interact informally and connect with each other. The guests also appreciated the efforts put in by the EPGP Batch, who looks forward to many such events in the future.
