While on one side there is a continuing rush to join an MBA course, students especially at the Tier-2, Tier-3 institutions are found wanting in terms of their employability by the time they are ready to pass out and move into the corporate world. This industry-academic gap is a serious issue which the management of any B-school has to address without further delay.
While the course content is fixed by AICTE, the colleges should focus on delivering various value added programs dealing with the course content. This has to be done by industry experts so that the students are able to gain the perspective of what is the reality in the corporate world. The student has to realise that it is very critical for him/her to gain that additional skills (eg ERP overview) to be able to not only fare better in the campus interviews but also get a head start when they enter the corporate world.
