Dear expert, Is it mandatory to be a CA if you want to hold a position like CFO of any company??..Can a CMA or CFA hold a CFO position in an company??..

Lot of companies have had simple BCom as their CFOs. No degree is compulsory for CFO job. A killing finance gut can take a guy to the top. CFAs, CMAs, CAs, MCom and MBAs are holding CFO positions everywhere.

Besides, even a management trainee in finance department can rise to the position of a CFO over a period of time, subject to his performance. So everything boils down to the performance at the last.

By the way, I wish to tell you one more thing here. After meeting about 500 CEOs and an equal number of CFOs, I have noticed that all of them are very vivid readers. Everybody at the top is a compulsive reader. Their readings include all management areas, self improvement, skill building, biographies, sci-fi, and lot more.

Not having a qualification, takes a longer time to become CFO, etc.

But definitely not a compulsion
