This is Sankhadip Basu. I completed my MBA (Finance) this year from ICFAI Business School Kolkata. Presently, I am working with a leading Real Estate Group based in Kolkata. the Group has a significant presence in & around Kolkata but not pan-India. My work profile is in the area of Project Finance. At present, I am quite satisfied with every aspect of my job and am really looking forward to remain a part of the Group over the long term. however, I wish to know if my work experience here would be quite relevant in case, in the future, I wish to be associated with a much larger Organization in the same sector, like, say, DLF or UNITECH or EMAAR MGF and the like. Kindly advise.
Dear Sankhadip, you have got a very good profile of project finance in a real estate firm. As such, most of the real estate firms have major presence only in and the city they are located. This is true for all the real estate firms except GMR and DLF. The benefit of working at the current firm is that you would be handling most of the project financing activities. In a big real estate firm, you may be given only a part of project financing activity. Therefore, your exposre to your job in the present scenario is much more than it would have been otherwise. You may like to add some more qualification to your existing skills, such as an advanced diploma in Project Finance from any distance learning institute or university. You can also think of getting an exposure into real estate derivatives which have hit US markets.
Thank you for the inputs..!! Could you please suggest any Course on Project Finance that I can pursue simultaneously with my present job?? Distance mode may also be an option..
