Programme on 'Strategic Marketing in Action'

Greetings from Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli.

 

We are glad to announce a 3-day programme on 'Strategic Marketing in Action' at our Chennai Campus in October 2017.

 

The 1st batch is scheduled from Tuesday, 3 October 2017 to Thursday, 5 October 2017, and the 2nd from Tuesday, 24 October 2017 to Thursday, 26 October 2017.

 

In addition to short lecture-discussions on core strategic marketing concepts, this programme will offer participants ample opportunities to practice their skills in Markstrat. Each batch size will be restricted to enable peer learning and facilitate mentoring.

 

Markstrat is an engaging business simulation from the Paris-based StratX Simulations that provides an environment that stimulates reflection, assimilation and application of core marketing concepts. The feedback and review process during the exercises, and simulation rounds would help achieve long-lasting participant engagement. It offers participants a risk-free platform to test theories and make decisions over 6 to 10 years of business activity (in 6 to 10 decision rounds).

 

Every aspect is real from competitive forces to the effects of sales, distribution, R&D and advertising.  Each team's actions will have direct consequences on the market, thus competitive analysis is a must. Competitor actions and reactions, new product launches, sales and distribution strategies all define how teams will manage their own product portfolio, R&D projects, positioning, pricing and distribution channels. However, the name of the game is not just tactics, but long-term strategy.

 

Participants will not only devote more energy but will also learn from their mistakes and successes alike, action-based learning. The simulation has a legacy of four decades and is very popular and extensively used in business schools as well as large corporations such as Nestlé, DEC and General Electric.

 

Even after the programme ends in addition to the 24 hours of classroom contact, participants will have a 30-day window for remote work. During this period, they will have limited access to the Markstrat simulation, in addition to access to an email hotline, and limited debriefing slots and coaching by telephone.

 

While this programme would help the experienced practitioner to reflect, review and experiment, it would provide the beginner an ideal learning platform.
