The Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) are voluntary standards introduced by Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad.
IPRS is an effort towards standardizing B-school placement reports.
A comprehensive Placement Reporting Standard has been prepared by contributions from various stakeholders like media, recruiters and other B-schools. The standards designed not only assure the privacy of the individual level data or information but also specify the format for reporting aggregate statistics which would satisfy the information needs of the different stakeholders.
Why IPRS?
B-schools have different formats of placement reports. Due to lack of their standardization and clarity, it may lead to the misinterpretation of the data and wrong decision making. Therefore a need for such standards was required to be introduced so as to make the data on the placement reports more comparable and reliable.
The necessity for such an initiative was felt as applicants gather recruitment information using the placement reports and rankings by different B-schools, media and ranking agencies.
The basic objective behind introducing the "Indian Placement Reporting Standards" was to bring in uniformity in the manner in which Indian B-schools report salary and non-salary information related to their placements, so that it is comparable.
These standards would also help aspiring students in taking right career decisions based on correct information.
